Frequently asked questions (FAQ)
Following are some of the frequent questions that are asked.
Do I need a book? Yes, a book is required before classes begin.
I did not know I needed books. What do I need and where can I get them? This is listed under "Required Materials" at the top of this page. You will need a dictionary as well as Choctaw Language & Culture Vol. 1 book.
Will Choctaw Nation buy my books? No, the class is free but you are required to purchase the book.
What time does the class start? All classes are in Central Time Zone and it will depend on what time or class you have enrolled in.
What time do I need to log in? Please log in a few minutes before your class time. Classes are in Central Time Zone so if you live in another time zone please make sure you are logging in during the correct time. Also, classes not in session cannot be joined
Do we meet every day? You will either meet on Monday, Wednesday, Fridays or Tuesday and Thursdays depending on what class you are enrolled in.
When do classes end? For the semester? For the year? We will post a schedule once classes have started so you will know the days you will be out and the day's classes will end.
Can I log into the day class if I miss a night class? No, your username and password will only work for the class you are enrolled in. If you missed a class, please get with your instructor on how to make it up.
How long will it take me to learn Choctaw and will I be fluent? That is a great question to ask!
There is not one specific answer to this question, however. It depends on multiple factors. Here are some things to consider:
